What a gorgeous sunny day!  A perfect day to visit a gorgeous baby boy, born just 2 weeks ago.  He was a perfect little model and I think he really enjoyed his time in front of the camera.

Now, I know that some of you will say that newborns don’t truly smile… but when Baby S heard mom and dad call his name, he WOULD smile!  It was amazing to see.  In fact, I want you to see for yourself:

Congratulations M&N on your newest addition.  I had a wonderful time meeting you today, and enjoyed our conversations too. 

We had ourselves a marathon session today, this little boy and I!  He had the cutest little boy voice and he was sure to use it to tell me he wanted nothing to do with sleep, no matter how much I wanted to take some nice photos for his mom, dad and sisters.

But c’mon he’s only a week old… so you know he’d have to give in eventually, right?

When he finally did, it wasn’t for very long, but I’m pretty happy with what we captured in those short sweet moments of sleep.  A couple images to share:

This little beauty has been waiting to show up on my blog for quite a while now!  Back at the end of July, Miss R came to visit me in studio for her newborn portrait session.  Just 8 days old, so adorable, and such a good little sleeper.  I’m so happy to finally have the chance to share these images with you.

Everyone say it with me… “Awwwww…”

Thank you M family for bringing your beautiful little girl to me for her first photos.  And congratulations again on your newest addition

Prior to this session, we debated what kind of smasher Miss K would be.  Would she grab handfuls and stuff her face?  Would she try and step in it?  Would she even be in the mood for cake?  Well, we got our answer, and you can see for yourself through the images below.

After removing the decorative (and tasty!) sugar flowers, it was finally time to break through that fondant and get at the cake!

I think she was still in awe that we were letting her have full access to the whole cake.  No big brother in sight, even!

Cake.  Delicious, pink strawberry cake.  Mmmmm!

By now K has eaten a lot of cake.  By herself.  With no grown ups telling her to stop.

Miss Sweet & Wild has become quite a regular in my studio, and I have been very happy to have her!  From her very first visit still in mommy’s tummy, to her precious newborn session at 2 days old, to her super strong 6-month session… now we get to celebrate her 1st Birthday!

In case you couldn’t tell, K is a Canada Day baby.  Here she is showing her true Canadian colours, with pride!

Her big brother tried to get in on the photo action, showing his li’l sis how much he loves her.

…but I think she’d rather do without the kisses!!!

After a few quick shots in K’s signature Pink & Zebra 1st Birthday outfit, we decided it was time for cake.

“Did someone say Cake?”

Yes little Miss K, we said cake.  And the next post shall be just that, K and her 1st Birthday Cake Smash.

I’ve been super busy over the past couple weeks, but I wanted to take a minute and share this image from a first birthday cake smash a couple weeks ago.  She clearly enjoyed the cake….   I’ll post some more pics from this session soon!!

Just a few weeks ago, our Vancouver Canucks were doing everything they could to get to the final round of the playoffs.  At C’s Maternity Session, we captured this special tummy photo.  Special not only because Mom is a huge Vancouver Canucks fan, but also because in that adorable pregnant belly, a brand new Canucks fan was being made…

…and he’s finally here!  A true Vancouver Canucks baby

Just 5 days after coming into the world, this little boy came to my studio for some snuggles (and photos – but snuggles first; it’s important to know your priorities)!

He too slept like a champ throughout his session.  It must be in the genes.  Did I mention he and the previous little boy I just blogged are cousins, born only a few days apart?  Hopefully for all the parents involved, they both stay great sleepers.   Okay, on with the rest of the sneak peek

2010 was the year of baby girls for me.  Of all my newborns last year, only 1 was a boy, and that was back in March of 2010!  Yes baby girls are indeed adorable, but I have to be honest and say that it was so great to have a handsome little boy visit my studio once again.

Meet Baby D, who couldn’t wait to get out into the world and even showed up a few days early.  With such wonderful parents, his decision doesn’t surprise me at all.

At 6 days old he slept like a champ, and I think we got some beautiful shots.  What do you think?

Being a newborn is a lot of hard work, you know!

Mother’s Day has come and gone.  But C is still hard at work, carrying her baby boy & getting him ready for the world.  I think it’s amazing how the human body is able to create brand new life like that!  I heard something on a television show recently that made me laugh – from a man to a pregnant woman having breakfast together:

“It’s incredible.  You’re creating new life as we speak.
Right now, you’re creating new life.  I’m eating a muffin; you’re forming a pancreas.”

It really is incredible.  And not only is C creating new life, but she’s doing it beautifully.  See for yourself!

I am very excited to meet this little guy.  He’s got such a wonderful family waiting for him!  See you soon!
